Dallas’ SMU Neighborhood Offers Dining Gems at Every Turn: For children and their families fairly, University Park’s SMU area has a diverse selection of eateries to suit any food desire and expense. Furthermore, almost all of the restaurants in this area are within walking distance of the university.

Do you want to eat German specialties like brats, wursts, and schnitzels? Then head over to Snider Plaza, where Kuby’s Sausage House has been an area favorite since 1961. Do you want to get your taco to fill instead? Then proceed to Banditos Tex-Mex Cantina, which is right next door. Half Shells Oyster Bar and Grill makes excellent oyster tacos in addition to other Cajun-inspired seafood meals. If you’re seeking a fantastic, classic burger, Cheeseburger House, a local treasure that goes back to 1951, is a must-visit.

If a fine steak meal is more your style, Knife, situated in the posh Highland Dallas hotel, will be your newest cheerful spot.

 KNIFE DALLAS

Since its debut in 2014, famous cook John Tesar’s swanky stronghold of beef inside the Highland Dallas hotel has been the topic of the city. And there’s a solid cause for all the excitement: Knife offers incredible-tasting meat that has been dried out for 45 to 240 days. The menu includes items such as steak tartar and beef sausage, as well as fried pigs head, Akaushi rib-eyes, and a rack of lamb. The 240-day matured Niman Ranch rib eye is the piece de resistance. It’s a serious luxury with an equally significant cost of $80 per inch. However, not every dish on the food list will empty your bank account. The burgers are also excellent, and the finest one on the food list is only $12. Make space in your stomach for the molten caramel dessert.

 OLIVELLA’S

This delightful pocket-sized pizzeria is widely regarded as producing the most delectably tasty pies in the area. Actually, Rachael Ray of Food Network fame declared these wood-fired orbs “the finest pizzas you’re going to ever eat.” The stellar crusts, which are available in a delicate and buttery Neapolitan style or an extra thinnest and crunchy Roman style, are what make the pizzas here so delicious. You will not go mistaken with any of the house areas of expertise pies, regardless of crust. The Gorgonzola pizza with pears and hazelnuts, as well as the white truffle oil pizza with house-made mozzarella, cremini mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes, are both delicious.  BURGER HOUSE

People call this pillbox-sized burger shack Jack’s (nicknamed after its initial proprietor, Jack Koustoubardis), and it hasn’t altered much since it began in 1951. Neither has food to offer, for the same reason. That is why the restaurant has a dedicated base of fans (which includes area celebrity Angie Harmon) who are prepared to wait for a while simply to place their orders at the window. The menu includes all that from hot dogs to grilled cheese sandwiches, but you’re here for the flat top-grilled burgers sprinkled with Jack’s special recipe seasoning. It all comes jointly on a sesame bun with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles, and is best savored with a side of crispy coated fries and, obviously, a chocolate milkshake.

Suggested for Southern Methodist University’s Top Restaurants because Burger House has the most uniquely flavored, old-school burgers in Dallas.

 KUBY’S SAUSAGE HOUSE

Since 1961, this family-run German store and eatery has been situated at the intersection of Snider Plaza. Not only does it have one of the finest collections of meats, cold cuts, and European food items in the city, but it’s also one of the finest locations in place to find genuine Teutonic dishes like brat, wursts, and schnitzels. Kuby’s house-made sausages wowed Travel Channel star Adam Richman, who featured the eatery’s wurst teller platter (sausages, sauerkraut, red cabbage, and hot potato salad) on the show Man V. Food Nation. Kuby’s also offers traditional Bavarian fare such as potato cakes (with applesauce and sour cream), roulade (thin beef rolled with bacon, onions, and pickles), and frikadeller. (a German-style hamburger).

Kuby’s is an area favorite because it offers fantastic, affordable food and also has a great German store.

 DIGG’S TACO SHOP

SMU students and taco lovers alike love this laid-back taqueria, which serves tacos stuffed with everything from slow-cooked barbecue beef to roasted mahi mahi and cooked habanero prawns. But there’s more to this place than tacos. Diggs serves fried plantains, nachos, burritos (wraps or bowls), torta tacos, and even Tex-Mex-style burgers. Digg’s renowned crunchy donut holes offered with strawberry jam round out the meal. The cocktails are an absolute must. Or, even better, get a single of the frozen varieties on a stalk.

Suggested because Digg’s is the only spot in the area where you can find decked-out tacos and frozen margarita bursts.

 SUMO SHACK

If katsu corn dogs, shoyu ramen, and heated baos stuffed with all that from soft shell crab to hot crispy chicken spark your curiosity, look no more than this slender and fast-casual place just across I-75 from campus. The modern Japanese selection includes about twenty goods, all of which are under $10. Though the baos are the main attraction, don’t ignore the octopus fritters or the Sumo fries. (shoestring potatoes topped with Miso chili, queso, onion, scallions, pickle jalapeno, and nori strips). Craft drinks, Japanese beer, and even sake boxes of juice are available as beverages. What about dessert? Ice cream baos, in three sounds. Did we add that this establishment remains open until 4 a.m. on weekends?

Sumo Shack was chosen as one of Southern Methodist University’s Finest Eateries because it is a top spot for Asian-inspired lite bites.

 DALLAS GRILLED CHEESE COMPANY

As the name suggests, this Mockingbird Station restaurant focuses on grilled cheese sandwiches. There are about twenty specialty sandwiches to choose from, including an unflavored-up American cheese on white bread combo, BBQ brisket with smoky Gouda, brie with bacon, and even roasted mac-n-cheese. And this is only the beginning. Along with sandwiches, there are bacon-pineapple lollipops and pretzel-coated mozzarella bites, as well as soups, salads, and sides like sweet potato cottage fries. They also have a selection of beers on draft, wine, and unique drinks. Don’t forget about the refreshments.

 EAST HAMPTON SANDWICH CO.

Anything feels best between two pieces of bread, and this fancy sandwich shop (nicknamed after the posh seaside town) serves it all in an airy coastal environment. To begin with, every item is house-brined, hand-carved, oven-fresh, and obtained locally. You’ll find Cubans, turkey BLTs, and even killer burgers, such as one with hickory sauce, bacon, fried razor onions, and cheddar. The scrumptious lobster rolls, filled with pieces of juicy crustacean on a toasted buttery brioche and supported with handmade chips made from potatoes, are not to be overlooked. In reality, there are so many ways to make your own salads and sandwiches so you could probably eat here every day and never get tired.

It is suggested because it not only has the finest sandwich shop in Dallas, but it also has extremely delicious lobster rolls.

 HALF SHELLS OYSTER BAR & GRILL

With fresh oysters and fairly affordable seafood menu items, it’s no surprise that this convivial, shoebox-sized restaurant is frequently filled to the gills. There’s every detail for oyster fans, from bi-coastal bivalves like Connecticut Blue Points and Gulf Gold Bands to fried oyster nachos and oyster po’boys. But it’s not just oysters that are popular here, there are also prawns and grits, miso-glazed Icelandic cod, Alaskan snow crab steamer platters, and what are said to be the finest fish tacos in the community. Not a fan of seafood? No worries. Half Shells have a variety of non-seafood (and gluten-free) options, such as grilled chicken, red beans and rice, and sliders.  BANDITO’S TEX-MEX CANTINA

Delicious Tex-Mex attracts, rock solid margaritas, and excellent cocktails keep this lively cantina hopping with everybody from couples to learners at all several hours. As a result, there is almost always a delay to get in. But that hasn’t stopped the crowds of supporters from eating down on top-notch fajita nachos, rib-eye tacos, and what many claim are the finest “beefy, cheesy, and a little greasy” enchiladas in town.
